ABOUT ME:
My name is Ryan, and I am based in Newark, OH, located forty miles east of Columbus. I have left a career of nearly twenty-five years in sales and customer service to pursue my creative interests. Now semi-retired, I am seeking creative work on a freelance, contract, part-time or, for the right opportunity, full-time basis. From 2012 through 2015 I owned and operated a small multimedia company, and those were the happiest years of my professional life. I am looking forward to partnering with exciting, creative people to create amazing projects together.
I also run a side hustle, my trading card eBay business: Hedwig's Hobbies.

WRITING SAMPLES
Below are three different samples of my writing:
First, a ~1500 word article that I would classify as narrative non-fiction. It is not an academic work, but it covers an academic topic: The creation myth of ancient Mesopotamians. The challenge with this type of writing is to fit in a lot of information, in a reasonable amount of time, without making the text too dense or dry.
Next is the first ten pages of an original screenplay that I have been working on titled: 'SStrigoi'. (And yes, the two S's are intentional) I compose and format using Final Draft 13, but in order to preserve the format here I have chosen to display each page in .jpeg format for ease of viewing.
Finally, I am including script pages using a documentary-style format. Scripting documentaries is different than working in fiction. In fact, you are writing in reverse. You never know what your interview subjects are going to say, so writing dialogue is impossible. Many shots are also difficult to compose in advance due to the dynamic nature of documentary shoots. Instead, you take what you have already filmed, then put it down on the page, laying the roadmap to shape the raw footage and audio into a cohesive final product. Video and Audio is scripted separately, and displayed side-by-side with the beats aligned, to aid in the editing process. Time stamps can also be included when desired/required. There is an introductory monologue overlapping the footage. This monologue is typed in bold & italicized. Since the video and audio must be viewed side-by-side, I have again chosen to display each page in .jpeg format for ease of viewing.
For this sample, I chose an existing episode of a YouTube documentary series (Jesse Michels's 'American Alchemy') and wrote out how I would have structured the script for the intro segment (the first ~5:30 of the original piece). The episode is titled 'David Grusch Breaks Silence: Inside Secret UFO Programs'. I would encourage anyone with interest in the modern UFO/UAP phenomena to watch the episode in its entirety HERE.
